NABOB OVER THE YEARS 1896

Actually, it started with tea

Nabob started as a tea company, under Kelly Douglas & Co. of British Columbia.

A ‘Tradition’ of better beans

The first Nabob coffee is created by carefully selecting the world’s highest quality Arabica beans to create a unique blend. Nabob’s coffee history begins with a new product called Tradition.

The expanding brand

Nabob expands its portfolio to include not only coffee and tea…

…but also spices, jams, canned fruits & vegetables, puddings and olive oil.

Branching out

Nabob expands out of the West and into Central/Eastern Canada.

Nabob introduces “Mr. Nabob” in its advertising.

The SWISS WATER® process

Nabob launches Summit & Tradition Decaffeinated blends, one of the first coffee companies to use the guaranteed 100% chemical free SWISS WATER® process for decaffeination.

Nabob est introduit au Québec
(Nabob is introduced in Quebec)

Nabob is introduced to the Quebec market, officially making it a product available across Canada.

Canada’s can

As a testament to Nabob’s success, Nabob is purchased by Kraft Canada. This acquisition helps raise awareness of this premium quality brand, and helps bring Nabob to more Canadians.

NABOB OVER THE YEARS 2008 & 2009

A sustainable collaboration

Nabob partners with Rainforest Alliance and begins its sustainability journey. It sources 30% Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM Arabica beans and launches the composite canister, which features a minimum of 50% recycled content and a reduced weight of 30%. The efforts of the composite container are recognized with a PAC Packaging Award.

Doubling up

Nabob increases their Rainforest Alliance bean content to 60%, with the goal of reaching 100%.

A “Better” campaign

Nabob launches a new campaign:
“Better Beans. Better Coffee. Better Planet.”
From better bean cultivation farming methods,
to a 30% lighter composite canister, to the ultimate goal of using 100% Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM Arabica beans, Nabob’s Green Bean Initiative is ensuring that a positive change is made in the way that coffee is brought to you.
